The Instituto de Biología of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (IBUNAM)
is pleased to announce the forthcoming Caryophyllales2018 meeting

The conference will address a broad spectrum of topics concerning the evolution and diversity of the order Caryophyllales. To present the latest research results and facilitate an integrative discussion there will be no sessions in parallel. Topics may include: Phylogeny of the order or smaller clades from family to species level, diversification and adaptive evolution, biogeography, morphology and character/trait evolution, floristics and species inventories, population biology and conservation, revisions and monographs of specific taxa. Sessions will be arranged after acceptance of the abstracts; we presume slots of 15 + 5 minutes for the oral presentations plus discussion. After registration, please send your abstracts to

Caryophyllales2018 will particularly focus on the on-going process of assembling a species-level taxonomic backbone for the on-line taxonomic synthesis of the Caryophyllales. The discussion of future editorial workflows and of the format of the online presentation will be a prominent theme for the 2 days of workshops in the programme.

The meeting will take place from 17 to 23, September 2018 at IBUNAM.

It will include talks and poster presentations, workshops and guided tours to the UNAM Botanical Garden and National Herbarium of Mexico (MEXU). After the conference there will be an optional two days field trip to the Tehuacan-Cuicatlan Valley (not included in the cost).

Registration ($150 USD) and abstract submission from June 01 to August 17, 2018
Late registration ($200 USD) from August 18th onwards
